Happy New Year!

Well, it is. Alfred Jarry, inventor of 'Pataphysics [*] and founder (through his Ubu plays) of Bold Surrealism, was born 128 years ago today in Laval, France. During his lifetime, he apparently coined a 'Pataphysical calendar (Robert Anton Wilson outlined it in an issue of Magical Blend magazine, though their archives turn out no longer to be available online) and used it to date some subset of his correspondence before his death on 27 Maha, 35 E.P. (November 1, 1907 by the heathen calendar).

[*] For those've you too lazy to follow the links: In his Exploits and Opinions of Doctor Faustroll, Jarry defines 'pataphysics as "the science of the particular [...] Pataphysics will examine the laws governing exceptions, and will explain the universe sup plementary to this one [...] 'Pataphysics is the science of imaginary solutions."
